Coffecup Software - Not A Good Buy for Anyone

Have you ever bought a piece of software and changed computers, then wrote the company requesting assistance or another download of the product ?

Tonight we had this exact experience, with one of our formerly most used pieces of software. HTML Tool is a simple html editor that was developed in the late 1990's by a German software developer named Stephen Graff. his software was so well received it was widely downloaded and then the program was purchased by a large software development company - Coffeecup Software.

tonite I wrote them asking for help or a download - instead I got plenty of nothing - yes nothing but nasty reply. so you know I am not exaggerating I am pasting the exact conversation here for your review. I am giving you this look into a transaction that happens thousands of times daily all over the internet. this company is a very large retailer of downloadable software. this means they are responsible for maintaining a database of their customers, to enable upgrades and downloads.

One Piece of Advice I offer to My Readers is to Ask The Retailer For a Copy on CD - Never Believe that Your Account is Relevant To Them; Once They Have Your Money

Yes I said the vp. this shows you how high this level of disrespect of customers goes. If I Were Purchasing Software, Coffecup Wouldn't Be The Source, because as you can see - they don't remember You - The Customer.

  I purchased a copy of HTML Tool when it was owned by Stephen Graf and now my registration code is not working.
  
  when i try to download my html tool I cannot download the paid for version - my registration info is as folllows:

  reg number is : (0000 the original number is here on their site - go see 0000)
  
  I bought it in the 1990's

  I am sorry but we do not have any registration information for that program any longer. We purchased their program about 6-8 years ago but never received any of the user information from that author. We also discontinued that program around the same time.
  
  If you have not yet looked out our HTML Editor, I think you will find it far superior to that program.

  Scott when you absorbed it you also absorbed us, remember ?
  I had a newer copy of the program but that machine is gone and now I need the program.
  
  please do the right thing, and send me a copy of the program since you can check your records and see I am already a registered paid user from years ago.
  
  it's easy to make folks angry and then they bash you -

  I am sorry but all that information was just lost in time. We have no records or even the binaries anymore in our system. If I had it I would. After we purchased a bunch of those editors back in the mid 90's they were immediately deleted and abandoned so that they would no longer conflict with our own programs.
  
  So I would love to be able to help, but what you are asking for we just do not have.

FYI - The Editor he says they don't use anymore IS Presently and Has Always Been Their Top Selling Piece of Software

Infact it's the software that kept them out of bankruptcy. I should know - I am recovering a copy of it from my old harddrive in the morning - because he was so rude. This is why as a consumer today - you have to cover each corner; Because no-one knows you after they have your money.

After contacting the Coffeecup Support Line today 09/30/09 - they read their VP's notes to me and relented. I received access to a fresh new copy and as such, we are now adding the video above to let you see the product for yourself.

We think it's a good product, but maybe they should keep their VP's out of their support mail.it's just not good for business when Your VP Lies and Then is Mean to Customers.
